Bale Arrested for Assaulting Elderly Mom, Sister

BATMAN star Christian Bale has been arrested by detectives investigating a claim of assault, police sources said today.

Bale, 34, faces questioning over the claim — made by his own mother and sister.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment.

“He was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He currently remains in custody.”

Bale was arrested just hours after he attended the first European screening of the new Batman blockbuster, The Dark Knight.

But he was able to attend the first European screening of new Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight in London’s West End.

He is alleged to have lashed out on Sunday night at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel — where he has a suite.

Mum Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, who lives in Dorset, went to a police station in Hampshire yesterday to lodge the allegation. The matter was referred to the Met Police.

Detectives, well aware of last night’s glittering bash, took the decision not to approach Bale yesterday. But they were expected to make attempts to quiz the Wales-born actor today.

I know what you're thinking: Batman's WELSH???

Animal Crossing: City Folk due Fall 08

We all have our gaming Guilty Pleasures. Mine is Animal Crossing. I simply adore the game. It's so kawaii you need two bumps of insulin to play it.

At E3 this week, Nintendo announced Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii -- supposedly due out November 16th or thereabouts.

One of the features in this new game is the ability to transfer your character and accumulated items from your DS to the Wii.

Here's the Official Nintendo footage from E3:

Dark Knight Box Office

The latest report on the box office for Dark Knight have the film grossing $66.4 million on Friday, that's including the $18.5 million it took in on midnight/3 a.m. screenings (which beats the $16.9 million record set by Revenge of the Sith).

Dark Knight is expected to take in well over $100 million this weekend. The question is, how much over 100 and will the film set a new record for biggest 3-day opening?

The record to beat is Spider-Man 3, which bagged $151 million its opening weekend.

As you can see, virtually every one of us at the GD Labs lowballed our prediction, making TheQuarterMexican the winner:

TheQuarterMexican: $120
SnarfJizzle: $69 million
FuzzyDave: $62 million
Elly: $63.74 million

We'll keep updating as new figures roll in.

Saturday Update:

Unofficial Saturday estimate: $48 million

That puts the total to 114.4, which means DK needs to make $36.6 million to tie Spider-Man 3

Sunday Update:

$155.3 million! NY Times story here.

Back on the market!
Justin Long and Drew Barrymore have amicably called it quits. Drew's rep confirmed it to People magazine. But cheer up, Justin... you'll bounce back in no time. You didn't really want that Tom Green tainted gal anyway. You can do better. But I got dibs on Megan Fox.

Wall-E Easter Eggs

"Wall-E" -- like all Pixar movies -- is loaded with easter eggs. The most prominent is the Pizza Planet delivery truck, which has been in every Pixar movie since "Toy Story."

For a complete-ish list of all the "Wall-E" easter eggs, check out the article in Slashfilm. -- FuzzyDave

Seymour
As discussed on last week's podcast, EA released a trial version of their Spore Creature Creator. This is my first attempt at creating a lifeform (with the exception of the supermold growing in my refrigerator). I shall call him... Seymour.
